Creativity

24.09.2010 | 12:07 AM | Patrick

Every so often I get into this real creative mood. Its a weird sort of state. I usually get all worked up about the idea of doing something original and unique. This almost always stems from reading about someone’s own inspiring creativity and I get jealous. It rarely happens that anything actually comes from it, which is pretty sad and frustrating. Its seems the more creative things I’ve done come spontaneously and accidentally.

It’s hard to funnel this creative energy into something concrete that I can build off of. I definitely won’t be able to sleep for awhile so I believe the next best thing to do is try. This is the part of the night where I initiate REASON and experiment.

Portraits

All work done in illustrator, imported image from file, used live tracing to get general outline. A lot of tweaking with the pen tool, moved handles, anchor points, added bits and pieces. Changed the color palate around to my liking.

All in illustrator, live traced black and white, added stripes to form rhythm and continuation.

Picture found on facebook. Brought into photoshop, adjusted levels, replaced color in the sky, used direct select tool to outline body, duplicated and moved, turned down the opacity on certain layers, added shadow effect.

Vector Art

Brother showed me this site earlier, http://esharkdesign.com/index.php/archive/mel-marcelos-vector-art/, hope you all can recognize a few faces. It surely looks like a lot of tedious, concentrated work went into all these portraits.

Enjoy.
